Saturn Transit Through The Twelfth House

saturn transit through twelfth house

As you probably know already, Saturn transits are hard. And Saturn transit through the twelfth house is really standing out.

Why?

Well, first of all, because the twelfth house is the house of “self undoing”, of unconscious fears, of skeletons in the closet and deepest fears.

And second, because this transit ends with probably the most important angle of the natal chart, namely, the Ascendant, and that puts even more emphasis on what Saturn will do on this two and a half year trip through your dusty, abandoned landscapes.

Feel a bit scared? Well, better to feel scared now, when you read about it, and prepare, than to be completely overwhelmed when it will happen.

It’s been almost a year since my own Saturn transit through the twelfth house ended and, in all honesty, I’m still a bit cringy when I think at it. It was intense. But also liberating.

When passing through the twelfth house, Saturn, the restrictor, the Lord of Karma and the mighty teacher will carefully look through all your baggage, through all that you repressed and pushed down the hole of your subconscious, through all your phobias and fears and take them out into the light one at a time. Or, if you’ve been, like me, a bit reckless, he may take out a few of them at a time, just to make the whole show funnier. For him, of course, because for the one experiencing the transit, it will get more and more painful.

We don’t want to deal with our own fears. We’d rather wait for them to fade away and tell ourselves we conquered them. But there comes a time when we have to verify if we’re really who we think we are, and this transit does exactly that: it rips you off of everything shallow and superficial, it goes right to the core of who you really are, and expose that. Almost always, in that core we will find all our repressed fears and, this time, we will have to really go through the whole process, we will have to deal with them. It’s a frightening process. It’s one of those times when if something has the slightest chance to go wrong, it will. Everything will seem to collapse around. Your personal life, your career, your finances, your relationships. In a way, these are mirroring parts of yourself which aren’t really real, so to speak, which are just layers you used to cover the shame, the doubts, the fears that are still holding you back.

Like any other Saturn transit, this one will last around two and a half years (plus / minus a couple of months, depending on the house size). The first part, which lasts about a year, will be the most intense one. It’s the “destruction” phase. At this time, all the structures in your life will be put to test and even the tiniest weakness in any of them will make everything crumble, like a cards castle.

Things may slow down in the second part of the transit, when, if you really applied all the needed patches and did all the homework you avoided for so long, you’ll start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You’ll still walk among ruins, but at least you’ll know what you have to do to rebuild. You’ll still experience shortage, but at least you’ll know for sure that better times will come.

As difficult as it is, this transit is also one of the most beneficials. In the sense that it will force you to eliminate anything that’s not needed anymore, will strip you off of any unnecessary self-constructed images and will keep only what’s really worth to keep from your life.

Once Saturn touches the Ascendent, you’re off the hook. As with any Saturn transit, there will be at least 2 passages back and forth over the Ascendant, until eventually the Karma Lord stabilizes in the first house.

By the time it’s there, you’ll be a completely different person.

At a glance

Relationship compatibility astrology is ideal for romance, family interactions, business dealings, and the likes. It is important to note that every relationship—no matter how simple or complicated they are—have points of harmony as well as conflict and this particular branch of astrology plays a key role in understanding its dynamics more effectively and efficiently.

Two different levels

Relationship compatibility astrology has two levels: synastry relationship compatibility and full composite relationship compatibility.

  • Synastry relationship compatibility

Synastry relationship compatibility basically scrutinizes the natal charts of two or more individuals to check them for challenges, talents, behavior patterns, currency cycles, and many others. In general, those who are new to a certain relationship go for this option and it is the most prescribed method for family accords as well as business dealings.

  • Full composite relationship compatibility

In simple words, full composite relationship compatibility includes all of the factors that are involved in synastry consultation The said chart pretty much merges the two individuals into one, to somehow enable them to see the purpose of their bond as they move on as a couple. If you choose this method, it can help you have a clear picture of the world as an integrated couple. It is important to note that this is ideal if you are looking at a long-term relationship because it helps you understand what theunion is all about.

What is the design of relationship compatibility astrology?

Relationship compatibility astrology is specifically designed to address the following:

  • Understand the potential of your current relationship
  • Determine the personality of your partner
  • Determine your own personality
  • Bring out and solve your usual relationship problems
  • Help you become more attractive to your partner
  • Explore your exceptional personality and your partner’s as well
  • Examine your relationship together (this involves sexual attraction)
  • Tap the strengths as well as the weaknesses of your compatibility
  • Learn the pitfalls of your relationship
  • Boost your sexual connection

Below is a more detailed explanation of some of the key points that were elaborated above.

  • Understand your relationship

Here, the relationship compatibility astrology reader will scrutinize your relationship to find out how well you and your partner complement each in various areas. This is important because love alone is not a sign of compatibility. In the process, he/may may examine both the smooth and rough “edges” of your relationship and utilize the scores to zero-in the strong as well as weak points.

  • Understand yourself

Despite how easy it may look, many of us don’t understand ourselves that much. In fact, it’s sometimes more difficult to find out what we want and what we need from our partner. This makes recognizing our right partner harder.

  • Understand your partner

Pretty much similar to the process on you, but typically filled with more surprises; here, your relationship compatibility astrology reader may focus on the prerequisites that need to be met for you to be emotionally fulfilled and more. In addition to this, he/she may focus on the layers of your personality and your partner’s and what the two of you need to understand for you to become deeply and passionately connect with each other. In line with these, the following questions are answered: How does your partner view you? How does your partner view your relationship? What motivates him/her? What attracts him/her the most?

Signs’ Elements

Aside from the abovementioned factors, your relationship compatibility astrology reader may also consider the zodiac signs that are associated with one of the four major elements, which are earth, fire, water, and air. Each of the mentioned elements lend certain attributes. For instance, earth signs are most likely grounded, fire signs are more passionate, water signs are exceptionally emotional, and air signs are extraordinarily intellectual.

At a closer look, air and fire signs work seamlessly together. Just as wind can play a key role in spreading flames; those who possess the mentioned signs can pave the way to passionate feelings as well as soaring ideas for each other. Earth as well as water signs are also ideal matches; just as water cultivate the earth, these two can share a supportive and nurturing bond that is unlike any other. Putting all the abovementioned factors into consideration, if your different planets complement that of your partner, then the chances are: you’re into a long and fruitful relationship.

Summary

If you are seriously contemplating of participating in relationship compatibility astrology reading, then you may find the contents of this article quite helpful. Also, it is important to note that while many readers do not require both partners to have a reading, it is essential if you would seek permission from your partner as well since it is more on a matter of ethics. Furthermore, it is important to be reminded that this is not only for starting a new romance or improving existing one; in fact, some clients indulge in it before going through a divorce or simply trying to move on. Lastly, relationship compatibility astrology reading, in addition to intimate relationships, can also be used to uplift employee-employer dealings, business partnerships, and the likes.

What Can a Compatibility Analysis Teach You?

If you should find a couple who has been happily married for twenty-five or thirty years and more, you have found a couple who understands the principal behind marriage and commitment.  Our grandparents knew what it took to make a marriage work but that’s not to say they didn’t have difficulties as no person is perfect. In early times, compatibility wasn’t even an issue as couples were put together based on social standing and it was more of a business relationship than a marriage out of love.

Why get a compatibility analysis?

Nowadays, we have a choice in who we want to spend the rest of our lives with especially with online dating being so popular but finding someone who is truly compatible is challenging.  Your sun sign provides information about how you interact with others.  But did you know you can learn a lot about your love interest using a zodiac compatibility analysis?

Having insight about your partner’s inner workings will help smooth relationships and you’ll find out what makes him or her tick and what’s turns them off.  Understanding is one of the keys to most successful unions.  Marrying someone who isn’t in tune with your life goals could be a huge mistake.  If your partner doesn’t share in your values, there could be irreconcilable differences in the future.

Although astrology should not be a basis or a deciding factor on your choice for a life partner, it will provide awareness regarding your partner’s characteristics. And while, there may be differences, it is possible for two people in love to work matters out but you must know and understand what they are.  Look at some of the questions or concerns most couples have:

I want a commitment, but my partner does not

Some zodiac signs fall under this category of not being able to commit while others live for it. Some people under certain zodiac signs are free spirits and the idea of a lifetime commitment scares them off.  Are you in a relationship with someone like this?  Ignoring these signs could be the death of your relationship.

With a compatibility analysis, you will find out the commonalities of two zodiac signs and their differences.  Two people who are willing to work through a troubled relationship can if they work toward it by compromising.  By learning the weak areas in the relationship, two people strengthen their bond.

The individuals that work through their problems develop character strength and at the same time, the relationship flourishes.  It could be as simple as learning to communicate effectively. On the other hand, not all relationships are meant to last a lifetime. People come into our lives to teach us a lesson and once we have learned that lesson, it’s time to move on.  With that said, try not to beat yourself about the relationships that don’t pan out the way you hoped.

Does he love me like he says he does?

Since one partner may find it difficult to share their thoughts and feelings, you may wonder if that partner really cares the way they say they do.  You can usually judge how a person truly feels by their actions.  Don’t put so much importance on words if their actions show you everything you need to know about the level your relationship is on.  Although it’s nice to hear that he or she loves you, it’s more important that they show than tell.  At the same token, it takes more than love to make a successful and healthy relationship progress into a lifetime of memories.

Intimate Relationships

One thing that is certain and that is betrayal can be a deal breaker in almost any relationship.  Forgiveness doesn’t come instantly in all cases as again, not every relationship was meant to last.  We dream of having a relationship that is honest and safe, but not all the time does it work out that way.  Accepting someone for who they are is sometimes easier said than done even in our closest friends or relatives but especially when dealing with a contrary sun sign.

In the arms of those we love, it’s natural that we look for acceptance, loyalty and safety. We value those relationships, but more often, we are hurt by the people we love.  The connections we make with compatible sun signs make us feel happy and we take comfort knowing they will be there in troubled times.

Having the ability to talk to one another and work through any rough patches only comes through communication.  Some zodiac signs are open to their emotional side while others are not comfortable with discussions relating to their feelings.  Studying which zodiac signs are free to share their inner thoughts will help to understand their nature.  When one partner is closed to communicating, it can compound problems.

Recap

What can a compatibility analysis teach me? By completing a compatibility study, you can compare two zodiac signs to get a clearer understanding of your partner, co-worker or child even.  Having a new perspective, you will better be able to work with them or get along with your child. In addition, you will learn these points –

  • How the other person thinks
  • What turns them on/off
  • If they prefer to work alone or in teams
  • How they deal with stress or pain
  • How they view the world
  • Their challenges or weaknesses
  • How to win them over
  • Their positive qualities

Venus and Saturn in Synastry

The last two blog posts about Venus and Pluto, respectively Venus and Mars in synastry proved to be quite popular, so I decided to move the needle a little bit, towards an area less spectacular, but nevertheless extremely important: the Venus Saturn synastry.

It’s about the connection between Venus – our sense of beauty and harmony, our social approach and perception of love – and Saturn – our unconscious fears, appetence for discipline (or lack of it) and our capacity to be tested and to learn from these tests.

Quite the contrast, right?

Well, at the superficial level, every contact between Venus and Saturn in a synastry chart could be “problematic”. The energies seem to be in a continuous conflict. The tendencies seem to be in opposite directions. The keyword syntagm is “seem to be”. Because, beyond the superficial level, every contact between Venus and Saturn in synastry yearns for a profound bond and for a lasting connection. The flirtatious nature of Venus, always searching pleasure for the sake of pleasure will be obviously annoyed by that. And the obsessive control freak outbursts of Saturn will definitely be baffled by the lack of responsibility of Venus, who cannot conceive to be put in a box.

But deep down, the need for security is there, for both, and there is this strange attraction towards the Saturnine energies and towards the uncensored experimentation of beauty, only the steps are slow and cumbersome. The Saturn and Venus dance is, at least in the beginning, a string of awkward stumbling in detours.

More often than not, contacts between Venus and Saturn can depict a relationship with a significant age difference. Or a relationship which stretches for large periods of time, with up and down periods measured in years or dozens of years.

The Saturn Role

In the relationship, the Saturn person will play the role of the “teacher” or of the older person, even if she or he is younger than the other one. There is this feeling of “having the upper hand” in the relationship, based not only on expectations or attraction, but mostly based on a certain intuition of doing what’s right.

The Saturn person may delay, may wait longer than usual, may ask for commitment signs or may step back in key moments, in an attempt to control the gracious and unpredictable behavior of the Venus person.

The Saturn person may also be the one who feels “hurt” most of the time, although, in fact, is he or she the one who inflicts emotional wounds, with or without knowledge. His deep insecurity is covered with a thick layer of discipline and commitment but even this thick layer can be melted at times by the warmth of the Venus person.

And when this happens, during those brief periods of vulnerability, the relationship can grow in leaps and bounds, provided that the Saturn person will be able to let go of control and trust the beauty without expecting anything in return.

The Venus Role

The Venus person will play the role of the “conqueror”, or it will lead the way, in some form of the other, regardless of the gender. The Venus energy will spread across like a continuous, tender and gracious spring, defusing any fight with a smile, always saving the day with a joke or projecting an aura of desirability on any object or person around. That specific talent, of making everything desirable or lovable is what attracts Saturn the most.

Packed in this role there is, alas, a significant dose of superficiality. Although he or she is obviously and honestly in love with the Saturn person, that doesn’t mean the Saturn person is the only one who deserves to be loved. There’s love to be cast unto every object or person in the room.

The lack of commitment is real, and, more often than not, this specific encounter appears in the life of the Venus person specifically because of that, because of the inconsistency and lack of commitment which may have become chronic. If the Saturn person needs to learn how to be vulnerable, the Venus person needs to learn how to commit to other persons or even to his or her own promises.

In For The Long Haul

Despite this inherent difficulties, contacts between Venus and Saturn in a natal chart can tell a very long story. Even if it starts slow (or perhaps because of that) relationships that overcome their incipient difficulties will last for a long time.

Once Saturn learns his vulnerabilities, he or she may become the pillar of a strong foundation, one that can last for a lifetime. And once Venus learns how to settle, how to focus on a single person, he or she will add a new layer to their charming glow, one that will say “I know how to love responsibly and I thoroughly enjoy it”.

Love Is Not a Sign of Compatibility

This is a guest post by Redmond Ellis

Captivating moments in one’s life is nothing short of spending time with those you love and savoring those moments with the people who return your love.  They are the best memories you can have mainly because of the people who share in your life, however, countless individuals spend time alone and that special person is absent from the pictures.  This could be unsettling for some individuals who believe matters of the heart are essential.

Having a companion to spend time with is important as it could mean having a life partner to grow old with.  This all depends on finding someone compatible and locating the perfect person can be difficult however, it’s easier using a combability guide.  In global times, you will find a plethora of compatibility generators online in which many are authentic and accurate and numerology is a critical component of pseudoscience. Over time, researchers and math geniuses have come to distinguish relative factors in you and your companion’s compatibility rating.

Compatibility and love

Astrologically speaking, some signs are better suited for one another and others clash like the titans. Knowing which zodiac sign to look for when seeking a partner will help define relationship goals. With that said, let’s look at the different levels of compatibility.

Date compatibility

When you find a compatible match, it can be thrilling and bring happiness to those who deserve it the most.  Compatibility comes in all forms whether it’s work related, siblings, parents, and even neighbors.  You can take a test to find out if you and your loved ones are destined to be together.  These tests predict the likelihood of success between two people and are surprisingly accurate.  You may be surprised to know that celebrities trust compatibility test for love and for career among other things.

Compatibility analysis are simply reflections of ourselves meaning they forecast the probability of a relationship working out or failing based on several astrological factors such as birthdate, time and place of birth and even the position of the stars at the time of your birth along with your partner’s birth information.  Relationship compatibility tests or compatibility calculators report significant details about love and marriage.

Love compatibility

Love compatibility test between you and your partner shows how agreeable the two of you are. A cosmic compatibility evaluation recognizes if the one you’re dating has the qualities and behaviors necessary to form a joyful combination or if there will be hardships.  In addition, it will reveal the areas in which to improve to make a lasting relationship. Chemistry is extremely vital but equally important as intensity, compassion, and affection.

If the rapport between the partners indicate a love connection, then chances of a lasting relationship are greater.  In instances where one mark is greater than the other, much work could be needed to build a solid foundation.  Analyzing the relationship could benefit the relationship and save the couple from a disastrous marriage.

Sexual compatibility

Celibacy is common among individuals exercising discipline and waiting until marriage to seal the marriage ceremony.  While sexual compatibility is crucial for a naughtydate and love relationships to work, not all couples believe in sex before marriage. In no way should you rely solely on a chemistry analysis to determine whether you are suited for a zodiac sign, however, it helps to weed out any potential difficulties.

Some signs are naturally attracted to each other although, it’s not difficult to understand why.  Humans tend to want partners in pursuit of the same dreams, ideals and goals. The best matches for Aries zodiac sign are Scorpio, Leo, Gemini and Libra.  Receiving support from the ones you love validates that you are making the right choices.  These are often deal makers or deal breakers.  Since we are a generation of immediate results, it may be time to step up your game.

Another suggestion is a sexual astrology or romantic match analysis.  How catastrophic if a married couple was not compatible in bed.  If the sexual and love compatibility levels among a woman and a man are low the suggestion is not to unite before making the decision to iron out differences before making a lifetime commitment.

Marriage compatibility

Are you and your partner suited for each other? Statistics prove marriages last longer if the spouses are compatible.  The connection between the two could be one which is divine and therefore, people confess those marriages are made in heaven.  Each zodiac sign own character traits that are natural or common to a specific date of birth.  These interpretations are used in compatibility tests to determine a couple’s compatibleness.

The recipe for a harmonious union consist of many ingredients and personality traits.  On the same note, if the sun signs are ill-matched, the probability of a long-term relationship becomes slim to none. Because of this, numerology and astrological experts recommend couples take advantage of a marriage compatibility test before deciding to jump the broom. This is one test that is completely painless and often, free of charge.

Conclusion

The feeling of falling in love is wonderful, butterflies and all, but the enchantment could diminish once the clouds darken.  To avoid deflation, you will need more than hugs and kisses to sustain a meaningful relationship.  The characteristics seen in couples in the best of times endure troubled waters because of a concrete foundation and a genuine love for each other.

Relationships work because of identical or similar characteristics and those are best found in likeminded individuals or compatible souls. Healthy relationships survive storms that were meant to disrupt and destroy.

Saturn and Uranus – The Teacher and The Rebel

Most of the time, people will experience this influence as a transit. And when it’s felt as a transit, it’s usually a heavy one. Saturn moves around the sky for 28-32 years, and Uranus even longer. So, these interactions are mapped, most of the time, over significant periods of our lives, both in terms of significance and time.

Saturn is the teacher and the status-quo. It’s inflexibility based on the respect of the rules, it’s heaviness and burden.

Uranus is wisdom in lightning bolt. It’s challenging the status-quo by definition. It’s liberation and revolution.

Saturn loves the things as they are.

Uranus loves to challenge things, just for the fun of it.

But, as surprising as it may seem, when these two planets are interacting in some way, good things will happen. Not without some turmoil, of course, but the end result will usually be good.

Uranus Transit Natal Saturn

The hard aspects (conjunction, square, opposition) are usually marked by intense struggle. There is this new opportunity, this call for new spaces, or social circles, that is constantly challenged by forces almost impossible to defend. Going forward is what the native feels to do, but what happens is that he’s held back by more and more profound challenges. As the native learns how to manage these challenges, the situation unblocks. And, in the end, the new situation is much better, in many ways, than the one that started it.

The lighter aspects (sextile, trine) are manifested more in the form of sudden teaching. The native will be exposed to new and enlightening information (most of the time this exposure will be done in ways that the native consider somehow inappropriate) and there will be a significant amount of teaching involved.

Saturn Transit Natal Uranus

As opposed to the one above, this one is felt more deeply. The core of the native is challenged here, and the very concepts of freedom and equality are on the table. The theme of the transit is “being restless”, not coping with what happens, or understanding new and very profound concepts after a lot of struggle.

The hard aspects can be felt more deeply, more often than not resulting in physical damage. From depression to low immunity, a wide area of physical imbalances are going along with this transit.

The light aspects are felt as giving more structure to unstable situations or concepts. Intuition is receiving acknowledgement and there is sudden and consistent advancement.

***

Whatever the planet transiting (Saturn or Uranus) these transits are a very good opportunity for learning, for adjusting to new challenges, for advancing and for evolving with leaps and bounds. There is some struggle involved, but, if we’re thinking about Saturn, this comes with the whole package, so we shouldn’t be surprised at all. The dash of unrest added by Uranus will just make everything spicier.

Venus Mars Synastry

A while ago I wrote about Venus and Pluto in synastry. Mind you, this proved to me the most popular article on this blog, for more than a year. Apparently, a lot of people are interested in these types of contacts. And for a good reason. Venus is, in anyone’s chart, the way they experience love and, to a deeper level, connection.

Now, let’s look a little bit at how Venus plays out with Mars. If Venus is love, Mars is anger. If Venus is connection, Mars is disruption. If Venus is conviviality and good times, Mars is aggression and status quo challenge. They’re obviously at the opposite sides of any stick you’d pick in this world. Venus and Mars, they are the extremes.

But it’s exactly because they are the extremes that they need so badly. They’re completing each other. They’re balancing each other energies so we’re not swamping into one of the extremes. And the extremes may be very deceiving with Venus and Mars. If we have to much Venus, then we’ll be complacent. Or, simply put, bored. Somehow satisfied, but bored. If we have too much Mars, we’ll be reckless. And restless. We’ll be on the lookout for new experiences, for new angles, for new stuff. We’re gonna challenge the hell out of our partner, just because the aggressive approach of Mars is unbalanced.

The following interpretations are for the woman Mars and the man Venus. In a woman chart, Mars represents the sexual and physical energy to which she’s falling instinctually and in a man’s chart, Venus represents the feminine energy to which he’s responding as well, instinctually. So, let’s briefly look up some possible combinations of a Venus Mars synastry.

Venus conjunct Mars

If you have this in your synastry chart, it’s great. It’s not a bliss, in a sense of Venus / Moon contacts, when it feels soft and dreamy. But it’s a dynamic so powerful and so easily felt, that you are simply drawn to each other like magnets. So, in other words, it’s extremely good news.

The energies of the two planets are completely balancing each other and the sexual chemistry is working even when the people involved are not even in the same room. It’s something so powerful that it may feel two strangers compelled to hug each other “for no reason at all”.

If there are no challenging aspects to Venus and Mars (like square or oppositions), and if the challenging aspects of the entire chart are moderately reduced, this contact alone gives a very high probability of a very fulfilling romantic relationship for both parts.

Venus square Mars

In this case the attraction is still there, but it’s more or less unconscious, repressed or not expressed openly by various reasons. The attraction is felt more like a dormant “buzz” which is always present, but none of the people involved can actually identify it, or use it fully.

The aspects denotes a relationship in which the two principles will more likely encounter difficulties with each other, in order to bring their attraction to  light. It’s like they know they’re attracted to each other, but can’t make it happen.

This aspects adds a noticeable vibration of frustration to the relationship, especially from the Mars part (the woman).

Venus opposite Mars

Welcome to the roller-coaster. This is the place where things actually get dangerous. It’s an aspect which denotes frequent ups and downs of the feelings of attraction, or of the relationship itself. It doesn’t add problems by itself, as long as the two people are mature enough to accept this “fleeting” characteristic, but if they’re not, it may turn out into a game of “hide and seek”, when one of them is feeling on and the other is off and tries to withdraw.

Because of the nature of the opposition, which polarizes the energies even more, when the attraction is present, in bursts and bouts, it’s usually much stronger than in the case of opposition, where it has a more constant quality. That’s another reason that adds up to the fatigue that may built over time between the two lovers.

Sexual Polarity

Now, if we talk about a woman’s Mars and a man’s Venus, things are clear. Venus is feminine principle,  needed in the man’s chart, Mars is the masculine principle, to which the woman is longing for, so everything goes pretty much by the manual.

But what happens if we find a contact involving a man’s Mars and a woman’s Venus? In my experience, this is going on pretty well too, although not as spectacular as in the first case. There are a few points to consider:

  • first of all, the man’s Mars may feel at times weakened or even irritated by the woman’s Venus. The underlying attraction is still working, but sometimes it’s not that smooth.
  • second, the woman’s Venus may feel threatened by the man’s display of power of independence and there may be episodes of withdrawal.
  • third, both need to accept at times to change their roles, especially in their day to day lives, lessening a bit the supplementary tension that may arise from this.

One Small Note About Venus / Mars in Synastry

Please be aware that the contacts of Venus and Mars should be considered in regard with other aspects in the chart as well. Venus and Mars dynamics are just a part of the bigger interplay of two persons. It’s a fundamental energy, it’s a very necessary one, but it’s not the only one driving a relationship. It can certainly bring two people together, but for this closeness to last, there are other placements that one should consider, Saturn being the most important. Although Saturn brings restraint, it also brings stability and long term fulfillment.

Neptune And The Need For “The Other”

Wherever Neptune is in your chart, you will experience “fogginess”. A lack of clarity, maybe some lack of focus. Depending on the context, this fogginess may be pleasant – like floating on a pinky cloud – or it may be dangerous – like being mislead to believe something that is not real.

Many failed romances have Neptune at the root of the failure. There was a strong pull in the beginning which ended bad. The two people felt an intense, even “fated” attraction, only to discover, in a jolt of lucidity, months or years later, that they don’t really have nothing in common. And that the entire relationship was just a projection of their own expectations from the other one.

It’s easy to see how we may start to blame Neptune for this. After all, it’s our time, it’s our life and we feel like we’ve been cheated. Alas, it’s not Neptune. It’s us. Neptune is only there to show us where we experience “gullibility”. The soft spot which may be used – and it’s used, many times – to be taken advantage of. Wherever Neptune is in our chart, we need to learn at least two important lessons: lucidity and unconditional love. The two may seem to collide, right? Wrong. They don’t collide, they’re very much related. Let’s take them one at a time.

Lucidity: suppose you have Neptune in the eleventh house, in Sagittarius. Now, you may feel an intense attraction towards spiritual groups and you are very easy to go out with friends. So easy, that many of them are simply taking advantage of you. Maybe they are abusing your time (and you feel so “lucky” that you’re not rejected) or maybe they’re abusing your network of relationships (and you feel so “lucky” that you have so much to share with other people). No matter how this abuse is manifesting, the pattern is: you enter in a certain group, strive to be accepted, make strong relationships and at some point you realize you don’t really belong there. And they were not your real friends.

Now, who’s responsibility is that (I hate the word “fault”, that’s why I’m using “responsibility”)? Yours, of course. If you were paying a little bit more attention, you weren’t so easy to be played with. You would have noticed some signs. But you didn’t. That’s what Neptune does: it obfuscates your visual field and lures you into some nice smelling swamps. You enjoy the perfume, for a while, but only until you realize it’s still a swamp.

Unconditional love: suppose you have Neptune in the second house, in Cancer. Now, it may be that all your romantic relationships are very closely connected to your possessions. Or money. Or your job. And, one way or another, you end up being the cheated one. Like actually losing money. Why this is happening? Because, of course, you didn’t see from the beginning that the relationship was not so much about yourself, as it was about how much you “worth”. Now comes the sad part: it’s because you ” broadcasted” that. Your Neptune exuded a thin, invisible perfume of: “I have money, come take it from me” and that activated the exact kind of person you didn’t want to attract. If you would be there just for yourself, not asking to be perceived in a certain way, you will be experiencing some sort of unconditional love that would have left the money part out.

Well, that’s Neptune. We all need to experience illusion and disillusion, romantic feelings and disappointment, hope and despair. Neptune pack these opposite pairs in such a way that it forces us to raise above our human condition. It forces us to go beyond our expectations, our ego. It dilutes the ego. And, mind you, the ego doesn’t like to be diluted.

So, how can you cope with this? How can we integrate Neptune’s experience in such a way that we could benefit from it and still limit the damage?

Over the years I came to the conclusion that Neptune asks for a “significant one” in the specific house where it sits in your natal chart. Like a clear mind. Someone that will ground you when hard times are coming.

If you saw the movie “A Beautiful Mind” you may remember that sequence when the main character is visited, after he knows that he has hallucinations, by one of his students. And, while they were talking, the main character asks the student: “Do you see those people on my left? Or are they only my imagination?”. The student responds: “No, there’s nobody here.” So they go on with they conversation.

I find this the perfect example for how we can cope with Neptune. In the movie, the main character is clearly living in a personal dream (namely, is having pathological hallucinations). That’s Neptune at its worst. So, he “cures” himself by accepting that fact (unconditional acceptance) and relying on other people to ground into a much more manageable reality.

So, in the end, the influence of Neptune is very positive. We end up connection, interacting, mingling and blending into each others, just like the basic influence of the planet promises us to do. But, most of the time, we go through some very rough times until we get there.

Just be sure you have a much grounded person into your life wherever Neptune is strong into your natal chart.

Venus And Saturn In Natal Chart

These two planets are perhaps the most important modifiers in someone’s personal life. When combined, interesting effects can be witnessed.

Venus is love, social life, harmony. Saturn is restriction, limitation, structure. One is oriented on the outside, the other on the inside. One is laughing, the other one is frowning. One is encouraging, bursting with energy, the other one is inhibiting. One opens you to new energy fields, the other one is depriving you of energy. One is youth, the beginning of life, the other one is about old people and the end of life.

Venus Conjunct Saturn In Natal Chart

There is a feeling of being contained with this placement. Feelings may run high, but their expression is drastically limited. There is a certain lack of spontaneity that tampers the appearance of the individual.

With Saturn and Venus there is always confusion or a mix of energies between young and old. With conjunction, what you get is that people are often looking ageless, or they already feel like experienced, old beings. On the good side, they’re reliable, they don’t fall at any corner for somebody else, but on the downside, it may take them a really long time until their wheels are actually starting to move. Once in action though, they’re hard to stop.

Even when they’re in love, they have a really hard time expressing their feelings. Shyness, seriousness, containment and a deep fear of rejection will  make them feel distant and to act with extreme caution. Partnerships are extremely difficult, because, on one side, they do have the stamina to enter and sustain even the most difficult relationship, but on the other side their standards run high, and they can be really picky and hard to live with.

Venus Opposition Saturn In Natal Chart

There’s a constant balance between exuberance and shyness, between optimism and pessimism. If, in the conjunction, the person is all the time too serious and inhibited by Saturnine energies, in the opposition, these energies are each at another end of the stick. So, one moment you’re optimistic and tender, and the next moment depression kicks in and you’re all down and cold.

The depression moments will make the bursts of optimism feel even more awkward, and the joy and exhilaration will always be shadowed by the dark side of the Saturn. This swing back and forth is really tiring, to the point that people start to contain, or to maintain themselves in a “no man’s land”, somewhere in between. So, in order to avoid these swings, people with this placement are often looking neutral, or at least they try to find a neutral point between these energies. Unfortunately, for many of them, this translates into a complete withdrawal from the world, into isolation or “nothingness”.

Physically, they will reverse the natural cycle: when young, they’ll look old, but they will age beautifully. It’s very common that people with this placement may look 10 or 20 years younger, once they’re past their thirties.

The key for them is to integrate these tendencies, not to eliminate both. That means that they should own the fact that their loving energies and their containing energies are at opposite poles, but they’re not invalidating each other. On the contrary, they may give two different perspectives. It’s ok to be childish and vulnerable now, and to express structure and stamina next day. This is how they are, and they are like this for a reason. If they can achieve this point of integration, people with this placement may become good teachers, parents or guides.

Venus Trine / Sextile In Natal Chart

This is pretty much a blessing, because in this configuration the two planets are “giving each other a break”. There is a certain buzz around these people, like you may feel the fact that, underneath their cozy and relaxed appearance something runs really deep, but most of the time they can keep it under control. Patience meets enthusiasm in these individuals and they’re very good partners. When they enter a partnership, they’re attentive, but not reluctant, they’re honest, but not cautious. In other words, their loving, chaotic side and their structured, contained side, are in sync. They know when to use one or another.

Very often they’re working as counselors and for a good reason: they can identify clearly both the light and the dark side of anything and they can help other people integrate both of them.

Saturn In Synastry

More often than not, Saturn in synastry is perceiving as “bad”. Sometimes for good reasons: Saturn means delay, self-consciousness, awkwardness and structure. If you’re after a romantic relationship, you don’t want structure, you want fun. You don’t want the coldness and seriousness associated with this old and heavy planet, you want a lighthearted space filled with laughter and gratification. Well, you’re gonna have to ask Venus for that. Because Saturn will not deliver that type of energy. Even worse, if you do have some Venus aspects in synastry (or composite), Saturn will make its best to tone them down.

So, with a strong series of Saturnine aspects in synastry, do expect some cold and harsh weather.

But there is some good in all that bad. Whatever Saturn touches, it gets transformed. It gets metamorphosized into something called “resistance”. A roadblock. A closed door. A clogged pipe. Something that you have to really work out with, if you want to move forward.

And this is exactly where the beauty of Saturn lies. In making you fight for what you want. In making you dig deep for those forgotten energies, pull them out, start using them and in keeping you pushing forward. There will be strain, that’s for sure. There will be stress, depression, lack of confidence and a lot of uncomfortable silences. But beyond all of these lies the greatest gift of Saturn in synastry: a long lasting relationship.

Venus is pure luck. It’s beauty and easiness. You just get that and enjoy it. But you do not control it. You have no handle over that. It’s just there for you. It may be there today, but, without a structure to get a solid hold on it, it may be gone tomorrow. And you cannot build a structure out of thin air. You need serious effort, commitment and dedication.

Saturn in synastry is where the glue will be applied. If you do have a lot of flowing aspects but no glue, the house will collapse. Subsequently, if you have more glue than nice aspects, your house will feel restrictive, too small, inhibiting.

Hard aspects will create more struggle (and drama). Squares will work out like a press, applying forces to whatever planets they are touching, making them change their shape in a long and rather painful process. Oppositions will swing back and forth between periods of restraint and periods of easiness. But, in the end, this balance must end, otherwise the energies of those involved in the relationship will be depleted. Conjunction will be felt like a continuous pressure.

Flowing aspects are rather useful, especially those between both Saturns. They will provide a sense of commitment that’s is very appealing for someone mature enough to want a one-on-one relationship. But even in this case, there will be some serious delays. And a big slice of drama, too.
